With privacy and security prominent in the minds of Internet users and providers, Cox Communications is introducing a free, “comprehensive set of tools” for security for Cox broadband subscribers.
The security package includes Cox Security Suite Plus Powered by McAfee, McAfee Family Protection and Cox Secure Online Backup.
Available throughout Cox’s network coverage area, the new security services are included automatically with Cox High Speed Internet Service. Customers can activate features selectively and customize settings via Cox’s dedicated website or from its Internet Tools portal.
- Cox Security Suite Powered by McAfee provides anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spyware, anti-phishing, email and instant message protection, and SiteAdvisor Plus Web site rating for as many as five PCs or Macs.
- McAfee Family Protection allows parents to censor their children’s Internet viewing by preventing access to inappropriate content, social networking risks, strangers and other online threats. It can also be used to manage the amount of time children spend online and to filter online TV shows, movies, explicit lyrics in iTunes™ music and objectionable YouTube videos.
- Cox Secure Online Backup secures files via automatic backup. Customers can store photos, videos, music, personal information and documents securely online. A virtual drive feature on the desktop allows for easy drag and drop into an online vault, and files can be shared with friends and family according to custom access settings. Storage is provided free and varies from 1-gigabyte (1 GB) on up to unlimited storage depending on the tier of the customer’s service.
