Fiber-based service provider LiveOak Fiber has selected Accelecom to support its fiber-to-the-home expansion in Georgia.
LiveOak will work with Accelecom to scale and upgrade its backbone in the state in Chatham and Glynn counties. No information about the timing or financial details were included in the press release.
“Our relationship with Accelecom allows us to accelerate our expansion plans and bring reliable, high-speed internet to more homes in Georgia,” LiveOak Fiber CEO Shane Schilling said in a press release. “Accelecom’s extensive network assets are critical to our growth strategy. Together, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents by providing them with the connectivity they need.”
LiveOak Fiber, which also is active in Florida, made another deal earlier this year in The Peachtree State. In February, it said that it is partnering with Seimitsu, another service provider. The two companies will work together to deploy a fiber network in Mayfair and adjacent communities in the Savannah area.
LiveOak Fiber said the arrangement with Accelecom is part of its build-to-service model, which is an effort to reduce the time between infrastructure deployment and when customers receive service.
Almost a year ago — in July — similar to its LiveOak Fiber partnership, Accelecom and the Frank Electric Plant Board (Franklin EPB) partnered to deliver broadband services to businesses and residents of Franklin, Kentucky.
LiveOak Fiber apparently has some money to spend. Last fall, it received funding via a co-investment partnership withInfraRed Capital Partners and MEAG. The latter is the Asset Manager of Munich Reinsurance Company (“Munich Re”) and its wholly owned direct and indirect subsidiaries (collectively, the “Munich Re Group”).
This co-investment commitment was granted to LiveOak for clients managed by MEAG. The investment was aimed at supporting LiveOak’s goal of delivering broadband to underserved markets in the southeast.
