A purchase agreement under which Poka Lambro Telecommunications LTD and Nevill Holdings Inc. will take control of five TDS Telecommunications cable properties in Texas was signed on August 19 and is expected to close during the fourth quarter of the year.
Eight TDS field service associates will join the acquiring companies as part of the deal.
Under the terms of the agreement, TDS cable properties in Seminole, Seagraves, and Denver City will transfer to Poka Lambro and those in Alpine and Fort Stockton will to go to Nevill Holdings.
Nevill Holdings is the parent company of Big Ben Telephone Company and Big Bend Telecom (BTT). The organization has provided telecommunications services in West Texas for more than 60 years. Poka Lambro, which was founded in 1950, now provides FTTP networks to 4,000 square miles in the south plains of Texas.
“Poka Lambro is uniquely positioned to provide exceptional service to customers in these newly acquired markets,” said Poka Lambro CEO Patrick Sherill, about the acquisition of the TDS properties. “The addition of these three communities is a natural fit to our existing service territory and we pledge to serve these new customers with the same cutting-edge technology and great customer service for which Poka Lambro is known.”
BTT general manager and COO Rusty Moore said that acquisition of the TDS properties aligns with the company’s mission and adds to its ability to serve west Texas communities.
TDS seems to be in a selling mood. In late May, the company agreed to sell two local exchange carriers in Virginia — Amelia Telephone Corp. and New Castle Telephone Company — to RiverStreet Management Services LLC.
At about the same time, TDS agreed to sell its OneNeck data centers to US Signal and UScellular, which is majority owned by UScellular, agreed to sell its wireless operation to T-Mobile for $4.4 billion.
